Welcome to the Islington Veterans Association (IVA)

The Islington Veterans' Association is a community organisation that promotes camaraderie and seeks to provide help for veterans and ex-servicemen across Islington. Membership is open to all who have served in the Armed Forces, the emergancy services, Merchant Navy & Prison service & btheir families and anyone associated with the Borough who seeks to further the aims of the Association, whether they have a military background or not.

The Veterans' Association is instrumental in organising the annual Remembrance Day Acts of Remembrance and Parades in Islington, Armed Forces Day and associated events and other occassional commemorations which happen in the Borough and is closely involved with the Borough on issues affecting the welfare of all veterans.

The Association also maintains a strong social calendar with monthly meetings of the Association in Islington Town Hall, The Association organise trips around the country (which have included visits to such places as the National Memorial Arboretum and the Air Force Museum at Hendon), dinners and other social events, and takes part in various Borough events promoting the Association.

The Assoction will be supporting Troop Aid in 2019, this is an charity that helps injured servicemen when they first arrive back in the home soil after being medically returned to the UK and all thier belongings still need to be forwarded to them. They provide a grab bag which only cost £30 to produce and is vital for the first 48/72 hours after they arrive in Hospital

The IVA would like to express its gratitude the Shak for completing the Milton Keynes Half Marathon and raising £1,500 for the IVA, Shak has continued to support IVA activities over the last few years and without support from people like Shak, we would not be able to support activities that help our veteran community.
